A workshop was held to publicise the “Paso@Paso” instrument that helps improve the planning of drug demand reduction programmes

The third edition of the Planning Workshop on Drug Demand Reduction has been held in Panama City for Mesoamerican countries and the Spanish-speaking Caribbean organised by COPOLAD in collaboration with the National Commission for the Study and Prevention of Drug Related Crimes ( CONAPRED ).
The workshop focused on training in the use of the “Paso@Paso” instrument, a new tool for planning drug demand reduction programmes, on which, during 2019, the heads of the national observatories and demand reduction areas in the drug agencies of each country had trained.
The workshop trained about thirty professionals and it marked the end of the training cycle on this virtual tool. Its aim was to guide the process of design and evaluation of interventions in different contexts and territories by facilitating access to quality information and making instruments available to analyse the quality of intervention planning in these areas.
The work of COPOLAD, a cooperation programme financed by the European Union and managed by FIIAPP, in these workshops is based on the “Logical Planning Model”, which allows for orderly and systematic intervention, is interrelated, and defines the key steps that must occur in this process alongside the guidance of “Social Promotion and Development” (PDS).
Previously, two other workshops on this tool had been held in Buenos Aires (Argentina) and in Nassau (Bahamas), where they received an excellent reception, with other national versions being imparted in Venezuela, Jamaica, Peru, Suriname and Uruguay.
