The European Union-funded programme EUROCLIMA+ is involved in a number of activities aimed at improving the way institutions address climate change
FIIAPP, which handles the Climate Governance area of the programme, has organised a series of activities and workshops in Guatemala with the aim of introducing skills within the continent’s public institutions that will enable the development and implementation of the climate agenda.
A workshop has been held for users of climate change scenarios in Guatemala. Its goal is to dialogue with the different sectors of the country regarding adaptation to climate change. They will thus be able to understand the specific needs in this area.
Additionally, a workshop on Climate Governance is also being held to go deeper into the experiences, challenges and lessons learned regarding the way the institutions in Latin America and Europe have addressed the problem of climate change, mitigation and adaptation. In this new space for exchange facilitated by the Ibero-American Network on Climate Change (RIOCC) and the EUROCLIMA+ programme, emphasis is being placed on the importance of the coordination and planning processes of all sectors involved in the fight against climate change .
In addition, EUROCLIMA+ supports the 15th Annual Meeting of RIOCC, which will take place on 8 and 9 November. The meeting will review the agenda of shared challenges and work priorities between the two regions on the subject of climate change.
At the same time, the 19th Conference of Ibero-American Water Authorities (CODIA) is also being held. There, EUROCLIMA+ is offering additional opportunities to support the improvement of policies relating to water in the fight against climate change.
