The revision of the Police Service Instructions and the new Communication and Public Education Strategy were presented within the ARAP-Ghana project.

The Accountability, Rule of Law and Anti corruption (ARAP) project, funded by the European Union and managed by the FIIAPP, has worked with the Ghana Police Service to provide technical assistance to strengthen their investigative and prosecutorial capacity. It has also improved the standards of ethics and professionalism of officers, reinforcing transparency through communication and public education of citizens to curb internal corruption.
The event to present the first revision of the Ghana Police Service Instructions and the new Communication and Public Education Strategy for the country’s police in Accra was attended by the inspector general of the Ghana Police Service, David Asante-Apeatu, the ambassador of the European Union in the country, Diana Acconcia, and the Minister of the Interior of Ghana, Ambrose Derry.
These Instructions have been revised in a coordinated effort between the two areas mentioned above, providing operational procedures for the Corps and improved transparency for citizens.
The Communication and Public Education Strategy for the Ghana Police Service was also presented at the event. Until 2020, the Strategy aims to stimulate communication with citizens, the media and civil society.
According to the ambassador of the European Union in Ghana, Ambrose Derry, “the Strategy is the perfect addition to the Instructions, since it comes at a time when there is high public demand for information from institutions”.
