EUROsociAL+ and the national tax agencies reward the free tax assistance projects with the greatest impact on the community and students
The EUROsociAL+ programme organised the First NAF 2.0 Audiovisual Innovation Awards for videos illustrating initiatives in the Tax and Accounting Assistance Hubs (NAF) programme. The event sets out to highlight the social innovation and human initiatives undertaken by the NAFs and their impact on the community and the students, as well as raising awareness on the work done by the universities, teachers and students.
EUROsociAL+, which is financed by the European Union and managed by FIIAPP, has been promoting NAFs in Latin America in collaboration with the Brazilian Federal Revenue Office since 2014. It is a higher education initiative whereby accounting and business students are trained by the tax administration to provide free accounting and tax assistance to people with a low-income and microentrepreneurs while improving their professional skills and ethical attitudes.
The winning video in the Higher Education Institution category was “NAF itinerante“, from the University of Vale do Rio Doce, in Brazil. In the student category, the winning work was “El NAF Celendín“, from Peru.
The two winners will be presented with their awards by the institutions that developed them at the NAF International Workshop on Innovative Experiences, to be held in Cuzco (Peru) from 10 to 12 June this year.
There are currently 358 NAFs in Brazil and 260 in higher education institutions in Argentina, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Honduras, Mexico and Peru whose purpose is to combat inequality, inspire trust in institutions, facilitate access to tax services and encourage voluntary compliance with tax obligations.
