Through the EUROCLIMA+ programme, activities have been organised to develop the climate agenda of the countries in the region
FIIAPP has organised a number of activities aimed at Latin American institutions in the fight against climate change. Work has been undertaken through EUROCLIMA + to develop capacities within these public institutions to establish their climate agenda. EUROCLIMA + is a European Union-funded programme whose Climate Governance component is managed by the Foundation.
These activities, which have taken place in Santiago, Chile, have included an exchange between officials from Chile, El Salvador, Uruguay and Costa Rica to present their situation and progress with regard to climate policy monitoring. The monitoring of these public policies allows the lessons learned to be extracted and successful experiences repeated.
In addition, a session of the Climate Policy Monitoring and Evaluation Practices Community has been organised – in operation since last April and with the participation of 14 countries – which focuses on the structuring of these practices and serves to share experiences, provide information on tools and learn from good practices in other countries.
EUROCLIMA + has also supported the 7th Regional LEDS LAC Workshop, focused on peer-to-peer dialogue to promote so-called Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). These reflect the commitments and objectives of the countries in the face of climate change.
The Chilean Ministry of the Environment took part in the activities. The LEDS LAC platform, which is a regional meeting space for the advancement of “Low Emission Strategies”, has also been a collaborator in the exchange between officials and the session on the practices community, it also organised the Regional Workshop.
