Two projects managed by the Foundation that address the fight against drug trafficking in Peru and Bolivia, respectively, have joined forces around this common cause

The projects “Support of EU law enforcement forces in the fight against drugs and organized crime in Peru” and “EU Law enforcement support to Bolivia’s Special Police Force to Fight Drugs” , both funded by the European Union, have over the last few days carried out a joint activity with the objective of supporting the fight against the main cross-border crimes that occur on the border between both countries.
In the border city of Desaguadero, where the Bi-national Border Assistance Centre (CEBAF, in its Spanish acronym) is located, the “Training course in land border areas of Peru and Bolivia on trafficking in human beings and narcotic drugs” has brought together participants from both countries, all specialists from institutions such as the Public Ministry of Peru and Bolivia, the National Police of Peru, customs and migration services of both countries, as well as the Ombudsman’s Office of Bolivia.
Also present at the course have been specialists on borders from the Civil Guard, the Ombudsman and the State Attorney General’s Office. It was intended to provide participants with a vision of the police and fiscal preventive and investigative process, but also to offer an approach to such criminal phenomena based on the human rights of the victims, through the representative of the Ombudsman.
These activities, coordinated between projects managed by FIIAPP, seek to increase its impact, with an additional focus in this specific case, on a key factor in the fight against trafficking in human beings and narcotic drugs: inter-institutional and country to country coordination. But these activities also seek to improve the overall efficiency of both actions, through the redistribution of expenses focus on the ethical use of the funds.
