An activity was carried out to support the design of Cuba’s National Geostatistical Framework, leveraging knowledge of the experience of INEC in Costa Rica
The city of San José has hosted a professional training on the design of the National Geostatistical Framework and experiences in the use of new technologies, specifically in mobile devices, census mapping and household surveys.
This training was carried out within the framework of the Eu-Cuba Facility for Expertise Exchanges II, financed by the European Union and managed by FIIAPP.
The content of the activity was aimed at exchanging experiences that contribute to designing Cuba’s National Geostatistical Framework (MGN), where all the definitions, concepts, standards, structures and other components are established for all applications that Cuba’s National Office of Statistics and Information (ONEI) intends to implement in matters of integration of statistical and geographical information in Cuba.
It also sought to benefit from the experience of the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC) of Costa Rica in the generation, updating and use of census mapping from mobile data capture devices and its subsequent use in household surveys.
The director of the Centre for Population and Development Studies (CEPDE) of Cuba’s National Office of Statistics and Information (ONEI), Diego Enrique González Galván, attended the internship.
The main objective of the Programme is to provide support to Cuba in the implementation of its socio-economic policy guidelines through the mobilization of experts from the EU, Cuba and third countries in managing the administration and public policies.
