The programme has promoted various initiatives on the subject at the 16th Meeting of the Transparency and Access to Information Network

Public policies on transparency and access to information are an essential foundation for accountability and citizen participation in public affairs, which is why Latin America is currently fully developing these policies. To share lessons learned and face common challenges, the organisations in the region that are handling these issues have created the Transparency and Access to Information Network (RTA).
EUROsociAL+, the programme for social cohesion in Latin America, financed by the European Union and managed by FIIAPP, supports various RTA actions relating to transparency and the right to public information within the framework of efforts to advance the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development (SDG 16).
At the 16th RTA Meeting, EUROsociAL+ promoted different actions such as version 2.0 of the Framework Law on Access to Information from the OAS, the promotion of open parliaments, focused transparency strategies with value for citizens and international alliances. In addition, the results of the Network’s projects that have been supported by EUROsociAL+ were also presented at the meeting. These projects have included: a regional system for the comparative measurement of the right to access to information and a model for applying the gender approach to transparency and information access policies.
Present at the event were, among other authorities, the Paraguay Minister of Justice, Julio Ríos; the EU ambassador in Paraguay, Paolo Berizzi and the president of the Costa Rican Congress, Carolina Hidalgo.
