A technical assistance activity to support the Chilean Internal Revenue Service (SII) was held. The activity was organized by CIAT, an operational partner of the FIIAPP-managed programme.
The activity, held at the headquarters of the Chilean Internal Revenue Service in September, included the participation of the team from the Studies Unit, which is responsible for measuring tax transaction costs. The purpose of the meeting was to introduce, review and discuss the methodology developed by the CIAT and the UN, and to adapt it to the Chilean context, as well as to define the scope of the field survey.
The results of the analytical work will make it possible to identify potential areas for improvement and to develop an action plan to simplify tax procedures, particularly those affecting small and medium taxpayers.
This assistance came about as a result of a request submitted by the country to the EUROsociAL II Programme, financed by the European Commission, within the framework of the Voluntary Compliance with Tax Obligations Action of the Public Finance Area coordinated by the FIIAPP, whose operational partners are the Spanish AEAT and IEF and the CIAT. From here on out, the CIAT will track the progress, requests and interests of the Programme’s beneficiary tax agencies in order to go forward with new activities to support voluntary compliance.
