The XXVII General Assembly of the Ibero-American Association of Public Prosecutors (AIAMP), held in Asunción, Paraguay is committed to the creation of strategic alliances
The Ibero-American Association of Public Prosecutors (AIAMP) is an entity that brings together twenty-two Latin American Public Ministries and Prosecutors, in addition to those of Spain and Portugal. It seeks to strengthen ties of cooperation, promote common strategies especially in the fight against organised crime and the treatment of victims and witnesses and to encourage interaction with other Public Ministries.
FIIAPP, through two regional programmes funded by the European Union (EU) and in whose management EL PAcCTO and EUROsociAL+ participate, has signed collaboration agreements with the AIAMP establishing a collaboration framework to promote the exchange of information and best practices among Latin American Public Ministries and with their European counterparts.
The General Assembly is the central body of the association and, in this edition, it has expressed the importance of creating strategic alliances with international organisations, such as the EU, and with cooperation programmes. It thanked the EU for its presence through the EUROsociAL + and the PAcCTO programmes, as well as for its work, which focuses on promoting social peace and combating organised crime.
EUROsociAL + focuses its collaboration with the AIAMP in three main areas, the review of the Santiago guidelines for victim and witness protection, support for the specialised gender network and support for the prosecutors against corruption network. The actions carried out and the results obtained to date were presented during the assembly.
In the case of EL PAcCTO, its main terms of engagement with the assembly revolve around illegal mining, environmental crimes (network against illegal mining), cybercrime (CiberRed) and support for the ethical principles working group.
