Officials from the Paraguayan Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development and EUROCLIMA+ representatives discuss the country's climate agenda at an event

The Paraguayan capital has hosted officials from the Paraguayan Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development (MADES) and representatives from the European Union EUROCLIMA+ programme, who met in an event organised by FIIAPP to address the climate agenda of this Latin American country.
As part of the preparation for compliance with the Paris Climate Agreement, during 2018, MADES formulated a proposal to implement its national contributions for combating climate change. This proposal is a plan to implement its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). At the end of the same year, the country submitted its second biennial update report to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
MADES considers it advisable to review the plan, taking into account the inputs generated from this second report and the priorities of the new government, so this discussion has been an ideal starting point for the round table that has been held.
The objective of the event has been to create a space that has allowed the details of the NDC’s implementation plan to be identified and defined and, at the same time, to formulate political proposals, actions and projects for consideration by the National Climate Change Commission, which will also serve to maintain the dialogue between MADES and EUROCLIMA+ in defining actions based on the needs and priorities identified by Paraguay.
EUROCLIMA+ is a programme funded by the European Union that seeks to promote environmentally sustainable development in 18 Latin American countries, in particular for the benefit of the most vulnerable populations.
