The project supports the Black Sea Prosecutors Network to strengthen investigations against drug trafficking in the region
Experts from the Black Sea Prosecutors Network
The EU-ACT project, which is funded by the European Union and managed by FIIAPP, has hosted a meeting of the Black Sea Prosecutors Network (BSPN) which includes experts from Armenia, Bulgaria, Moldova, Romania and Ukraine.
The meeting held in Madrid discussed the first draft of the BSPN’s regulations and its potential activities plan for 2019 and 2020. In addition, during this visit, the experts participated as observers in the Annual Meeting of the Ibero-American Prosecutors Network.
The BSPN, which was created in September, arises out of the need for a joint and effective approach to confronting the criminal groups dispersed across the regions along the heroin route. Its priority objectives are to generate trust among prosecutors specialising in drug trafficking, facilitate the exchange of information, by encouraging investigations, and improve the skills of prosecutors in the pursuit of drug trafficking.
To improve the professional experience of the participating prosecutors’ offices, EU-ACT organises specific meetings and workshops for the Network with the participation of leading experts from other countries. In addition, in order to facilitate confidence-building among prosecutors, the Project supports bilateral exchanges between the BSPN prosecutor’s offices.
About the project
The aim of the EU-ACT project is improving the effectiveness and operational cooperation of agencies responsible for investigating drug trafficking and the organised crime associated with it. In addition, the project supports beneficiary countries in the prevention of drug use, as well as in improving treatment for drug addiction, covering, in general, all drugs policies in line with the European Drugs Strategy 2013-2020.
