This week saw the formal launch of the cooperation project financed by the European Union and managed by the FIIAPP for environmental protection in Macedonia.

The event, which was held in Skopje, the capital of Macedonia, was attended by the Macedonian Minister of Environment and Physical Planning, Nurhan Izairi; the Head of the EU Delegation, Avio Orav; the Spanish Ambassador to the country, Ramón Carranza; and the Netherlands Embassy Deputy Head of Mission, Peter Verheyen.
The Minister of the Environment expressed his conviction that the project to improve environmental management and legislation in this area will serve to address the problems and challenges represented by environmental protection. At the same time, he hopes that the project translates into better coordination between central and local governments when it comes to applying the legislation.
The EU Ambassador, Orav Avio, stressed that the European Union will continue to support environmental protection, and stated that the project’s success is guaranteed if the State invests in professional training and in raising awareness about environmental protection.
The project, with a budget of one million euros, is funded by the European commission and managed by the FIIAPP jointly with the Council of Environmental Affairs of the Regional Government of Galicia (Spain) and the Dutch Knowledge Centre InfoMil of the Netherlands.
