With the inauguration of two schools in Libolo, in the province of Kwanza Sul, Angola, another objective of the Social Support Fund (FAS) is achieved within the framework of the delegated cooperation project for local development in Angola
FIIAPP is implementing this EU-funded project aimed at improving Angolan education policy. In this context, an inauguration event was held in the municipality of Libolo, in the province of Kwanza Sul, Angola. The official inauguration of the two schools, with three classrooms each and built and equipped within the framework of the international cooperation project in Angola.
Construction of these schools is part of the portfolio of social infrastructure projects proposed in March 2015 by the Social Support Fund (FAS), the Angolan institution that is implementing the project together with FIIAPP. The proposed objectives included the construction of the health centre in Lussoso, which was inaugurated and transferred to the local administration in August 2016.
The inauguration was attended by representatives of the different entities participating in the project, including the head of the Cooperation Section of the European Union Delegation in Angola, Ramón Reigada-Granda; the head, project expert and representative of the Ministry of Planning and Territorial Development, Jerônima Warshcke; the FIIAPP team leader in Angola, Josep Puig; the FAS director general, Santinho Figueira; as well as various provincial and municipal authorities.
During the event, FAS director, Santinho Figueira explained the purpose of the project: “the project aims to address one of the priorities of the communities in order to improve education and teaching in the Kissongo community”. Likewise, in the speech of the head of the Cooperation Section of the EU Delegation in Angola, Ramón Reigada-Granda, he pledged the European Union’s continuing support of Angolan development, with special attention to the training of local institutions. The event also included the participation of various local authorities; the representative of the Municipality of Libolo indicated their accepting of the commitment to maintain the schools. It will do this in collaboration with the education council of the Municipality of Libolo itself, which will make a commitment to providing educational materials and methodologies.
