Bridging the Gap organises an international forum to address educational inclusion in public and cooperation policies in Latin America

Within the framework of the Bridging the Gap project, financed by the European Union and managed by FIIAPP, an international congress was organised in Quito, Ecuador, which was attended by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Organization of American States, public institutions, and civil society in Latin America.
In the opening speech, Ana Lucía Arellano, Chair of the International Disability Alliance, highlighted the importance of a “holistic approach to inclusion that includes efforts before, during and after the person is in the education system.”
The opening ceremony also included the debate by representatives of the European Union Delegation in Ecuador, AECID in Ecuador, the Ecuadorian Ministry of Economic and Social Inclusion and Bridging the Gap about the current state of inclusive education in Latin America, which aimed to present positive experiences applicable in Ecuador or anywhere else.
During the congress other issues were dealt with, such as good practices on the American continent, highlighting the cases of Brunswich – Canada, Colombia, Uruguay and Ecuador and the role of civil society and international cooperation, in which three international cooperation actors and two representatives of civil society shared ideas, tools and proposals.
