On 29th October, the “Hispano-Moroccan co-produced cinema” workshop was held at the Cultural Renaissance Centre in Rabat, Morocco. The activity was organized by the Spanish Embassy in Rabat, with the support of the AECID's ACERCA Programme, and the FIIAPP.
The activity was organized in parallel with the Rabat International Art House Film Festival, being held from 24th October to 2nd November, which this year is featuring Spain as the guest of honour. The workshop included directors, filmmakers and producers from the two countries who examined the co-production experiences to date with the priority objective of promoting greater contact between filmmakers and producers to co-create films.
The workshop included participation by the Director of the Moroccan Film Centre, Sarem Fassi Fihri; the Cultural Attaché of the Spanish Embassy, Pablo Sanz; Farida Benlyazid, director of La vida perra de Juanita Narboni; Mario Madueño, producer of La Herida; Ramon Colom, President of the FAPAE (Federation of Associations of Spanish Audiovisual Producers); and Gerardo Herrero, in addition to other Moroccan and Spanish presenters. Moroccan film students, journalists and cultural administrators also participated.
Spanish cinema is very present these days in Rabat thanks to the Cervantes Institute and the International Art House Film Festival, which, in collaboration with the Spanish Embassy, has scheduled a screening of shorts and feature films, and a roundtable on the films of Buñuel.
