With the support of the European project "Exchange of experiences Cuba - European Union", the single window for foreign investment, VUINEX, has been inaugurated
Havana (Cuba) has hosted the inauguration of the headquarters of the Single Window for Foreign Investment (VUINEX). The institution was created within the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment of Cuba (MINCEX) with the aim of promoting and facilitating the administrative and bureaucratic procedures required by the Cuban administration for foreign investors.
Facilitating these procedures will enable the establishing of businesses and the securing of permits, licenses and authorisations that will contribute to attracting capital from abroad, which is key for the island, especially at this time when sanctions have been tightened by the US and there is a negative influence on the economy due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Cuba-EU II Exchange of Experts Programme, which is managed by FIIAPP, accompanied and supported the implementation of VUINEX through the purchase of equipment of various kinds, which has contributed to this office being able to open to the public and to the creation of its own software for managing all the services that VUINEX offers to investors and potential investors. At the event, the director of VUINEX, Mrs. Anabel Reloba, announced that the computer platform will soon be operational on which investors will be able to manage their permits and authorisations electronically.
The event was chaired by the Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca, who wanted to highlight in his speech the work of international cooperation, specifically the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the cooperation of the EU in Cuba through the Experience Exchange Programme.
The European Union finances this programme that is managed by the FIIAPP and whose main objective is to accompany the Cuban government in the implementation of its lines of socio-economic policy through an exchange of experiences, knowledge and good practices in the management of the administration and public policies. Foreign trade, foreign investment, and population statistics and census are some of the topics that have been worked on in the project.
