The Cuban National Institute of Economic Research addressed these issues at its annual scientific conferences held in Havana
Socio-economic issues pertaining to Cuba have been discussed at meetings held by the Cuban National Institute of Economic Research (NIER) and the main achievements of the organisation’s research have also been presented. The meetings held by the Cuban institute also constituted an exercise in academic contribution to the sustainable development of the country.
The Cuba-European Union II exchange of experiences programme, financed by the European Union and managed by FIIAPP, accompanies the Cuban government in implementing socio-economic lines (Guidelines) to regulate the country’s modernisation process.
Up to 150 professionals involved in the work of the NIER including academics and researchers along with specialists from the global economic organisations and economic experts from the branch agencies and the Ministry of Economy and Planning (MEP) have participated in these conferences.
The NIER is partnering FIIAPP in this exchange programme, coordinating the activities in Cuba together with the MEP. The NIER’s work is aimed at identifying, analysing and proposing solutions to problems arising in the process of updating the socio-economic policy in which the country is immersed.
