Zagreb (Croatia) hosted the opening ceremony of the FIIAPP-led twinning project "Strengthening capacities of the Ministry of Interior to combat cybercrime” on Wednesday, 17th October.
The project, financed by the European Commission with a budget of €700,000, is aimed at strengthening the Forensic Science Centre, investigation and expertise; improving the system for combating cybercrime; and supporting the organizational model of the Criminal Police Directorate in terms of the fight against cybercrime and the introduction of new training programmes.
Carried out jointly by the Ministries of the Interior of Spain, Austria and Croatia, it will also work towards building an action framework in this area to be used by other countries in the expansion of European practice, as well as contributing to the consolidation of regional and internal security.
The opening ceremony held in the amphitheatre of the Police Directorate was attended by the Austrian Ambassador, Andrea Ikic-Böhm; the Deputy Head of the Spanish Embassy, María Luisa Benítez-Donoso; the Deputy Director of the Police, Zvonimir Vnu?ec; and the Croatian, Austrian and Spanish project managers, Krešimir Sikavica, Klaus Mits and Juan Miguel Manzanas, respectively.
