The European Union holds a side event on the COPOLAD Programme at the 60th Session of the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs.

The European Commission held a side event on COPOLAD, “Development of supports tools for informed decision-making on drug policies”, within the framework of the 60th Session of the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs.
COPOLAD, a European programme managed by the International and Ibero-American Foundation for Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP), is aimed at strengthening public policies on drugs through bi-regional cooperation between the countries of CELAC (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States) and the European Union. It is currently in its second execution phase, which began in December 2015.
Following its first year of activities, COPOLAD II presented comprehensive and effective tools to support drug policy design and implementation at this event. These are evidence-based scientific tools that respect human rights and are responsive to gender aspects.
The representatives of the countries that make up COPOLAD presented the progress made in validation and adoption of criteria in the field of drug demand reduction, which, for the first time included the participation of the Caribbean region.
During the presentation, the Head of Delegation of the European Union to the United Nations in Vienna, Didier Lenoir, highlighted the importance of COPOLAD in strengthening the dialogue between CELAC and EU countries within the framework of the European Cooperation Strategy.
