The 3rd Annual Meeting of National Drug Observatories brought together specialists from Latin America, the Caribbean and the EU
At this meeting, held in Prague and organised by the COPOLAD programme, funded by the European Union and managed by FIIAPP, a presentation was delivered on the progress made in the National Drug Observatories of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), with the support of their counterparts in countries of the European Union.
At this meeting, 28 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean announced several support instruments for the implementation of these advances in all countries that want to incorporate them into their regulatory and institutional frameworks.
Such progress has been possible thanks to the work groups set up in 2016 at the 1st Annual Meeting of the Jamaican Drug Observatories.
The working groups were made up by most of the countries of CELAC, with the contribution of the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA), the Inter-American Observatory on Drugs (OID-CICAD), as well as experts and European benchmark countries.
At the opening ceremony, different representatives of the countries participating in COPOLAD were present.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
COPOLAD counts on the collaboration of specialists from the National Plan on Drugs and the National Police Body, who work towards the reinforcement of public policies on drugs. Said policies are in line with the principle of liability shared among the parties involved, between ECLAC countries and the EU.
