Presentation of the first report on the Initiative for Transparency in Extractive Industries (EITI) within the ACTUE-Colombia project, which is managed by FIIAPP and financed by the European Union with the support of the World Bank.
The Government of Colombia presents the first report of the Initiative for Transparency in Extractive Industries (EITI) regarding exploitation of natural resources in the country during the 2013 fiscal year, and on contracts and concessions in the sector.
The report—presented within the framework of the project managed by the International and Ibero-American Foundation for Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP) entitled “European Union Anti-Corruption and Transparency Project for Colombia” (ACTUE Colombia), with the support of the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank and the European Union—aims to improve accountability regarding the use of resources generated by the extractive industries present in various regions of the country.
The Government of Colombia, the private sector, and the country’s civil society also participated in preparing the report. The content of the report focused on revenue from the exploitation of natural resources in the country during the 2013 fiscal year, and contracts and concessions in the sector.
FIIAPP supported Colombia in implementation of the National Action Plan for achieving the country’s admission to the EITI initiative, in addition to providing technical assistance to the Technical Secretariat and the Civil Society Commission that participated in the Tripartite Committee.
This initiative, which currently comprises 48 countries, including Spain, aims to increase the transparency and accountability of the actors involved in exploitation of countries’ natural resources.
