The International and Ibero-American Foundation for Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP), through the delegated cooperation project funded by the European Union “ACTUE-Colombia” (European Union Anti-corruption and Transparency Project for Colombia), supports the Government of Colombia in promoting greater transparency, citizen access to public information, and citizen participation.
Eight months after the launch of the Second Action Plan of the Open Government Partnership (OGP), the progress made in the project was presented. At the event, held within the framework of International Civil Society Week, representatives of national public entities and Colombian civil society organisations came together.
The Secretary for Transparency of the Republic of Colombia, Camilo Enciso, stressed that the Second Action Plan of the OGP for the country is innovative in that it includes commitments like promotion of active transparency, accountability, and judicial ethics by the Council of State.
For his part, the Director for Civil Society Engagement of the Open Government Partnership, Paul Maassen, indicated that Colombia can become a leader in the region in this area if it continues its efforts to promote dialogue between the government and civil society, an essential element for advancing towards an open government that has the potential to positively impact the quality of life of its citizens.
The ACTUE-Colombia project, managed by FIIAPP, will continue supporting the Colombian government by strengthening the Partnership’s Follow-up and Monitoring Committee, supporting the Council of State in implementation of its transparency and accountability strategy, as well as with formulation of a strategy for preparation of the Third OGP Action Plan.
