Colombia hosts a project to improve its employability

A delegation from the Commonwealth of Pla de Mallorca visited Girardota to work with their local counterparts in the formulation and presentation of a pilot project for decent employment in this municipality. In this regard, the pilot project includes measures to improve employability focusing on entrepreneurship, training for employment and social support for vulnerable groups, along with monitoring indicators, evaluation and policy support.  

This activity is part of the SOCIEUX+programme funded by the European Union and managed by an association led by Expertise France, with the participation of FIIAPP, Belgian International Cooperation on Social Protection (BELINCOSOC) and the Belgian Development Agency (ENABEL).    

Among the representatives of the delegation that visited the Colombian municipality were the president of the Commonwealth of Pla de Mallorca, Joana María Pascual, as well as the region’s local employment and development agent Pedro Bergas. 

This is the third and final phase of a project that began in April 2019 and mobilised a large number of stakeholders and collaborators, including training centres, unions, employer associations and public entities at both the regional and national levels.    

About the project    

SOCIEUX+ is European Union initiative focused on social protection , work and employment as an instrument of technical cooperation . The programme is based on the peer exchange model, in which knowledge and European experiences are shared through missions completed by experts from different public administrations.   

Currently SOCIEUX+ offers technical assistance to 150 countries on matters of social protection and employment policies. Since the programme began in 2013, SOCIEUX+ has carried out more than 246 activities in 40 countries.
