The FIIAPP is leading a new project in Croatia thanks to which standards will be established in the area of the quality and safety of human blood donations, tests, processes, deposit and distribution.
According to EU regulations, all transfusion centres must fulfil specific requirements related to space, and the medical and technical experts and teams needed to provide proper blood collection, testing, deposit and distribution services.
The project objective is to have available a greater quantity of blood that is of higher quality and safer in order to provide it to the population, if necessary, without any types of risks.
This project will mean all transfusion centres in Croatia will fulfil the necessary requirements in order to comply with European regulations.
In 2003, Croatia applied for EU membership and the country has worked hard in different areas to obtain membership which is expected for July 2013. One of the essential requirements for being an EU member is complying with European healthcare regulations.
Along with the FIIAPP, those responsible for the project will be the Italian Minister of Healthcare and the Regional Healthcare Minister of Catalonia which will provide the Spanish experts. The FIIAPP will manage 1,000,000 euros which is the total sum of the project financed by Europe.
