Specialists from the Brazilian Federal Police work with the Spanish National Police to perfect boat search techniques
The Federal Police in Rio de Janeiro hosted a theoretical and practical course organised by the European SEACOP project.
For a week, specialists from the Spanish National Police gave a course to 18 students from the Federal Police and the Navy with the aim of perfecting techniques for searching for drugs and other substances inside boats.
The exercise has combined the collection of information to carry out the search with an adequate and methodological protocol and strict security measures.
The activity was supported by the Drug Trafficking Suppression Division, specifically the Maritime Traffic Suppression Unit (NTMAR) and the Special Maritime Police Unit (NEPOM) for the course.
Alfredo Díaz, Spanish National Police and the regional coordinator for Latin America in the project, highlighted the professionalism and commitment shown by all the participants in the course.
In addition, during the week, the SEACOP project director, Dominique Bucas and the regional coordinator for Latin America, had the opportunity to visit the facilities of the Amazon maritime operations and protection command.
