Today the FIIAPP is closing the successful project it has led over the last two years in Tunisia in the area of health: “Implementation of a Medical-Economic Information System at Pilot Hospitals”

The objective was to support the country in developing a hospital management system to allow greater patient control, which in turn represents a way of optimizing the hospitals’ financial resources.
To achieve this, the FIIAPP, using experts from the Castilla-La Mancha Health Service(SESCAM), trained professionals from six local hospitals to create a unique medical record for each patient.
This system, in use in Spain since 1985, is pioneering in the country. It did not exist until now, and this meant doctors only had patient information corresponding to their specialty. As a result, tests already performed on patients tended to be repeated, establishing relationships between different pathologies was more complicated, and patients were hospitalized for longer than necessary, among other issues.
With this system, the patient will see improvements in the continuity of care. Moreover, the hospitals using it will be able to better manage their services with the same budget.
This project, launched in 2011 with a budget of 1,300,000 euros from the European Union, closes today. In its final phase, a roadmap was established so that this system of unique medical records can be extended to the country’s entire health network.
