A group of Azerbaijani experts on maritime safety visit Spain to learn about response procedures in the case of a maritime accident.
The International and Ibero-American Foundation for Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP) organised a visit by a group of Azerbaijani experts to the Harbour Master’s Office and Maritime Traffic Control Tower of Valencia within the framework of the project on Maritime Safety in Azerbaijan, which is being funded by the European Commission and managed by FIIAPP.
Spanish experts at the Harbour Master’s Office and the Maritime Traffic Control Tower of Valencia received the group of Azerbaijani experts to show them how to respond in the case of a maritime incident or accident resulting in or with a risk of causing marine pollution and danger to human lives.
During the visit, they were able to analyse a recording of a real case involving a recent incident in which a flight by experts from the Harbour Master’s Office and the Maritime Traffic Control Tower encountered a vessel with illegal immigrants. They also worked with the graphics memory of events that are recorded and the administrative files generated.
In addition, the Azerbaijani experts learned about the resources and radar equipment of the Maritime Traffic Control, both from a technical standpoint, in other words what controls these devices and how to read their displays, and in terms of their utility in an administrative sanctioning or criminal procedure.
