Spanish Cooperation's APIA programme held an activity on training on fiscal policy analysis in Maputo. The Spanish Ambassador and the country's tax authority closed the training event.
On 13th and 14th May in Maputo, a training event on fiscal policy analysis, with a special emphasis on aspects related to inequality, was held. The Spanish Ambassador and the president of the tax authority closed the intervention on inclusive fiscal policies, which was organised with the support of Spain’s Institute of Tax Studies (IEF).
This training event included the participation of 35 civil servants from the country’s tax authority at the central and provincial levels. In closing, the IEF experts presented a diagnosis of the distributive effects of Mozambique’s current tax system which was conducted in March of this year.
This intervention was carried out within the framework of Spanish Cooperation’s APIA Programme, with the collaboration of the Spanish Cooperation Technical Office in Mozambique and the FIIAPP, with the goal of favouring a redistributive policy for tax revenue in Mozambique.
The APIA Programme in Support of Inclusive Policies in Sub-Saharan Africa, attached to the Department of Cooperation with Sub-Saharan Africa of AECID’s Cooperation with Africa and Asia Division and the FIIAPP (International and Ibero-American Foundation for Administration and Public Policies), is collaborating, according to the guidelines established in the Fourth Spanish Cooperation Master Plan 2013/2016, in the consolidation of democratic processes , emphasising the importance of the good governance of institutions that design and create poverty-eradication programmes.
This activity is also part of the 2014-2016 Spanish-Mozambique Partnership Framework which prioritises Democratic Governance as one of its three working sectors, and more specifically the areas of Governance and Public Finance.
