The project to support AMERIPOL promotes the signing of a collaboration convention to fight against corruption and violence in football stadiums.

Football, in addition to being a form of sports entertainment, is also linked to acts of corruption often associated with organised crime, including episodes of racism, intolerance and violence, security issues in stadiums, sports fraud, rigged matches and money laundering.
The EL PAcCTO project: Support for AMERIPOL, financed by the European Union and managed by FIIAPP, has promoted the signing of a convention that aims to stamp out the criminality, corruption and violence linked to the football business.
The main lines of action that have been agreed upon revolve around the sharing of information and experiences, training, and awareness-raising campaigns.
During the signing, the head of the Amipol project, Marcos Alvar, highlighted the achievements of the programme in institutionalisation, as well as the importance of the use of platforms such as SIPA II in the fight against organised crime.
In his speech, Gerardo Jose Otero, president of AMERIPOL (Police Community of the Americas), emphasised the practicality of the agreement for improving security in the sports environment. Likewise, the president of LaLiga, drew attention to the importance of coordination between different police forces to fight against violence and sports fraud.
Furthermore, the AMERIPOL police community has been invited by its European counterpart, EUROPOL (European Police Office) to be part of the “European Centre for International Police Interaction”, the epicentre of actions aimed at ensuring security for Euro 2020.
