Signed by the Government of Honduras, employers and the main trade unions, its goal is to improve employment conditions for Honduran citizens
This commitment is based on a framework for joint action drawn up by the Honduras Economic and Social Council (ESC) and the EURO+LABOR programme, financed by the European Union and managed by FIIAPP in collaboration with SEXPE, the employment body of the Regional Government of Extremadura.
This agreement, which is in line with the Honduran National Employment Policy (HNEP), seeks to increase the capabilities of Hondurans, especially young people and women, to access more and better employment opportunities. To this end, the government of the Latin American country has based this alliance on the following strategic axes: development of human capital, an environment conducive to the creation and development of businesses, the generation of employment and competitiveness.
It also urges local governments, businesses, trade unions, civil society, donors and multilateral organisations in the Latin American country to act together to achieve the goals and the shared aim of national well-being.
At the signing of the commitment the Honduran president, Juan Orlando Hernandez, stressed that “it is time to change tack and make structural changes” to strengthen the country’s economic growth. In addition, the Ambassador of the European Union Delegation in Honduras was also present.
