A Ghanaian delegation has visited Spain with the aim of obtaining the best practices that can be applied in the reality of each country on administrative justice and judicial review

Madrid has hosted a visit by senior Ghanaian officials organised by the “Accountability, Rule of Law and Fight against Corruption (ARAP)” programme, which has European funding and is being implemented by the International and Ibero-American Foundation for Administration and Policies Public (FIIAPP).
For five days, the Ghanaian delegation participated in an experience exchange programme, giving them the opportunity to meet with their counterparts and analyse the similarities and differences that contribute to improving the work processes in each country.
The Ghanaian representation, comprising the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), the Judicial Service and the Attorney General’s Office, were introduced to the different systems in relation to the protection of human rights and the management of public administration in Spain, which include the Ombudsman, administrative procedures, judicial review before the special jurisdiction and the administrative acts control systems for protecting citizens’ rights.
In addition, during their stay, the delegation visited FIIAPP’s headquarters, where they were received by the head of the Foundation’s Security and Justice area and the Ghanaian Ambassador to Spain. They also examined the functioning of the experience exchanges in relation to international best practices in the fight against corruption and the improvement of services that protect citizens’ rights.
This international visit is one of several interactions organised by the ARAP project, which aims to support Ghana’s public institutions by establishing international networks and gaining exposure to international best practices.
The ARAP project – Accountability, Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Programme – joins with the efforts of the Ghanaian government to reduce corruption. The project is funded by the European Union and managed by the International and Ibero-American Foundation for Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP). The objective of the project is to promote good governance and support national reform, in order to improve accountability and strengthen anti-corruption initiatives throughout the country.
