3D forensic infographic to clarify criminal events

From 2019 to 2022, this project, funded by the European Union and implemented by the FIIAPP, has aimed to increase the efficiency of forensic sciences, as well as judicial procedures, in Turkey. In recent months, and as a result of COVID19, activities have been carried out predominantly through virtual platforms. In them, theoretical-practical training has been carried out in line with the practices of the European Union and aimed at improving the capacity of Turkish institutions.

Within this framework, the project hosted a conference based on the study of 3D forensic infographics, a technique that the Spanish Guardia Civil has been developing since 2006, consisting of the virtual reconstruction of criminal acts and which has revolutionised the forensic field. Taking advantage of the potential of this audiovisual medium, in brief recreations, they manage to extract the forensic medical work, the investigative results and all the information necessary for the clarification of criminal acts.

Apart from the obvious value as a means of infographic communication, an extensive field of evidence is opened up by allowing experiments to be carried out in virtual environments, which test different hypotheses and help investigators and, therefore, the parties involved in the judicial process to make better decisions.

For this reason, this activity was aimed at experts from the Forensic Department of the Gendarmerie (JKDB), the Criminal Laboratory of the Police (KPL) and the Council of Forensic Medicine (ATK), who accessed the virtual training given by two experts from the Forensics Unit of the Spanish Guardia Civil.
