Now an international model in cooperation, FIIAPP is celebrating is twentieth anniversary with more than 1,200 projects behind it.
Margarita went to her local hospital, part of the Salvadoran social security system, to review her diabetes treatment, and her medical records had disappeared, meaning they couldn’t prescribe her essential medicines. Proper handling of medical records is fundamental for a health system so that patients are able to exercise their rights. The EUROsociAL+ programme, managed by FIIAPP, is helping El Salvador with this reform process.
It is one of the 1,200 projects resulting from 20 years of work. The International and Ibero-American Foundation for Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP) is celebrating its twentieth anniversary in international cooperation, with a presence in more than 160 countries.
Understanding these projects as a horizontal exchange where the most important thing is the transmission of knowledge is the basis for being part of the process to improve public policies in different countries for the benefit of administrations. This is the objective of FIIAPP, which is part of the state public sector and is integrated into the whole Spanish cooperation cycle.
It began operation in 1998 following the merger of the Ibero-American Foundation for Government and Public Policies and the Ibero-American Foundation Institute for Public Administration. In the first decade of the 21st century it grew with the expansion of the European Union.
Since then, it has amassed staff, dialogue, exchanges, experience and work: more than 550 million euros have been invested to date and more than 15,000 professionals now form part of its history.
Justice, health, education, security, environment… FIIAPP works alongside governments and institutions around the world to fight inequality, organised crime, climate change, people trafficking and biological, chemical or nuclear risks.
The Foundation has now become an international model. And it enables large regional cooperation projects like EUROsociAL or EUROCLIMA, in which around 20 countries share challenges, objectives and experience.
