Asunción, Paraguay hosted the closing event of the “Support for Sustainable Development in Paraguay” program, which culminates after four years of committed work with Paraguayan public institutions.
During the event, the main results achieved in these years of intense and fruitful work were presented, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals and the priorities of the National Development Plan. These advances contribute to a more inclusive, equitable and sustainable Paraguay, with consolidated tools, methodologies and institutional capacities.
Five strategic areas of work stand out:
The event was attended by representatives of the public institutions involved in the implementation of the Program, as well as other key actors. Among the authorities present were Miguel Ángel Sánchez Varela, Head of Cooperation of the European Union; Alexandra García, representative of FIIAPP; Marisol Saldívar, Minister Director General of Bilateral Policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Hugo Piccinini, Director of Inter-institutional Relations of MADES; María Esther Jiménez, Vice-Minister of Social and Economic Protection and Promotion of the MDS; Iván Ojeda, Director of the National Statistics Institute; Silvia Blasco, Vice-Minister of Social and Economic Protection and Promotion of the MDS; Iván Ojeda, Director of the National Statistics Institute; Silvia Blasco, Vice-Minister for the Protection of Women’s Rights; Yolanda Gómez, Vice-Minister for Equality and Non-Discrimination of the Ministry of Women; Fabián Forestieri, Director of Institutional Relations of the CGR; Eutilio Riveros, Mayor of Guazu Cuá; Fernando Ramírez, Mayor of San Lorenzo; and Pilar del Barrio, Coordinator of the “Support for Sustainable Development in Paraguay” Program, among others.
During the event, the main results of the Program were presented, as well as an interactive exhibition that invited attendees to explore the achievements in an innovative way. In addition, six animated videos were shown that explained the main lines of work of the public institutions, highlighting topics such as the sustainability of the actions carried out, the challenges faced, territorial planning, the use of data in decision-making, the approach to violence against women, care for the environment and the continuous training of public servants.
The “Support for Sustainable Development in Paraguay” Program closes its cycle as a model of cooperation and exchange of international experience that generated tangible and sustainable results. Its actions, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals and the country’s priorities, leave a solid foundation for the country to continue moving towards a more inclusive, equitable and environmentally friendly future. A Paraguay where no one is left behind.
