The two institutions signed an agreement in Madrid to carry out joint exchange activities between public administrations of Spain and other European countries with their counterparts in Latin America and the Caribbean
The executive president of CAF -development bank of Latin America and the Caribbean-, Sergio Díaz-Granados, and the director of the FIIAPP, Anna Terrón, signed an agreement this morning at Casa América in which they commit to work to strengthen public institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean. CAF is a multilateral organisation that supports sustainable development and regional integration. The FIIAPP, as a specialised entity of the Spanish Cooperation in the exchange of knowledge and experience between institutions to improve public systems, implements a third of its projects in Latin America.
“Investing in public systems is a decisive step towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. We already have the support of Spanish and European public administrations, which offer their public talent to this end, and with significant financial support from the European Union, whose cooperation gives increasing weight to direct collaboration between institutions, but it is very necessary to include other actors such as development banks in this project that will guarantee rights and facilitate the necessary economic investment for the green, digital and social transition that the two regions want to achieve together,” said Anna Terrón at the signing ceremony.
“This agreement with the FIIAPP will accelerate cooperation between Spain and Latin America and the Caribbean in key areas such as institutional strengthening and the exchange of international best practices. The region needs efficient institutions that integrate digital transformation, are agile and have trained human capital to ensure the proper allocation of resources and offer quality public services to citizens,” said Sergio Díaz-Granados, CAF’s Executive President.
The signing of the agreement is part of the activities that CAF has organised in the framework of the European Union (EU)- Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) meeting of Ministers of Economy and Finance and the CAF Board of Directors meeting in Santiago de Compostela.
The objective of this agreement is to develop a collaboration framework for the implementation of joint exchange and training activities between public administrations of Spain and other European countries with their counterparts in Latin America.
