This project will support governance mechanisms and the implementation of innovative initiatives in favour of youth inclusion
This project funded by the European Commission and inaugurated today in Rabat (Morocco) in the presence of the Moroccan Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid; the Ambassador of the European Union in Morocco, Patricia Pilar Llombart; the Spanish Ambassador to Morocco, Ricardo Diez-Hochleitner; the Director General of the Catalan Youth Agency of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Laia Girós Barrés; and the Secretary General of the FIIAPP, Inmaculada Zamora, among others, will support the Youth Department of the Moroccan Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication to develop an institutional response that integrates the needs of young Moroccans and defines more inclusive measures both socially and economically.
The secretary general of the FIIAPP, Inmaculada Zamora, pointed out that “Spain and Morocco have a long history and shared experiences that have built our special relationship. I am convinced that this project will be one of those positive experiences that will have an impact on ensuring better integration of young people“.
The Director General of the Catalan Youth Agency, Laia Girós, said that “it is a great satisfaction to participate in this project from the experience of more than 40 years of youth policies in Catalonia and to be able to share perspectives, challenges and learning and contribute to making a better life project possible for young people in each of our territories”.
The Directorate General of Youth of Catalonia, as project leader; the Directorate General of Youth of Cantabria; and FIIAPP/Spanish Cooperation, together with the Department of Sociology of Youth of the University of Salerno in Italy as participating institution, will work for two years on this twinning project to strengthen governance mechanisms and promote innovative initiatives in favour of youth inclusion.
Through the mobility of national and international experts, this twinning project will accompany the country in the inclusion of its youth, who play a vital role in social, economic, cultural and political development. The project will address the reform of legal and organisational aspects of the institution, inter-ministerial coordination, convergence of the programmes of the different ministerial departments, as well as support for the implementation of innovative initiatives that enable the social and economic inclusion of the country’s young people.
This twinning will accompany the provision of an institutional response that gives young Moroccans a voice in decision-making in order to implement an inclusive recovery adapted to the needs of young people in the aftermath of the Covid-19 crisis.
This project is part of the line of cooperation between institutions promoted by the European Union, with the FIIAPP as the main implementing agency in Spain. It is a horizontal and direct cooperation between counterpart institutions with the aim of improving public policies and public systems in areas such as climate, digitalisation, security, justice and social cohesion. It is a unique form of cooperation with which Europe can make a difference in the world and accelerate the pace towards achieving the goals of the 2030 Agenda.
In Spain, the FIIAPP is the institution in charge of managing twinning projects and to date has managed more than 300, making it the leading European operator in terms of the number of projects implemented through this instrument. Therefore, the FIIAPP always accompanies and works with the Spanish institutions that apply for twinning, from the formulation to the implementation of the project, as well as all the administrative management and support to ensure the exchange of expertise.
