Representative Bolivian authorities involved in the fight against drug trafficking have presented the strategic vision for the fight against drug trafficking and the control of surplus coca crops
The Bolivian capital hosted a meeting with journalists organised by the FIIAPP in coordination with the Vice-Ministry of Social Defence and Controlled Substances in the framework of the European project to support special forces in the fight against drugs. All the activities organised in the project aim to reinforce and support the Andean country in its strategy against the illicit trafficking of substances and the control of the expansion of coca crops.
The objective of this meeting was to dialogue and talk with the media, both written press and radio, in order to offer a strategic vision of the Bolivian model for the fight against drug trafficking and the control of surplus coca crops. The current model of nationalisation of the fight against drug trafficking and surplus coca crops breaks with the dynamics of criminalisation of the traditional coca leaf producer and seeks to strengthen regional and international coordination, based on a national model, where “we will have better results if we all work in a coordinated way”, stated the Vice-Minister of Social Defence and Controlled Substances.
In addition, the representation of the Delegation of the European Union highlighted the value of regional coordination through the support offered by regional programmes such as COPOLAD, EUROFRONT and EL PAcCTO, in which the FIIAPP is also working.
For her part, Prosecutor Margarita de la Barga, team leader of the FIIAPP-EU project in Bolivia, emphasised that the project works by supporting the institutions involved in the creation of a comprehensive Bolivian national model for the fight against drug trafficking.
Finally, on the occasion of the National Journalists’ Day, an event was organised to celebrate and celebrate all Bolivian media.
