Strengthening scientific expertise in the Algerian police

Algeria

A European Union twinning project, managed by FIIAPP, to strengthen scientific and technical expertise. With a duration of three years, the project also aims to implement a quality management system within the Algerian scientific and technical police.

The project team works with the Algerian Scientific and Technical Police Branch (SDPST) since, in Algeria, forensic services are mainly provided by this institution together with the General Directorate for National Security (DGSN). The strategy of these institutions is to significantly advance towards quality management and, progressively, to be accredited (compliant with ISO 17025, which provides the necessary requirements that must be met by testing and calibration laboratories) to carry out the methods used in the laboratory in the next 10 years. The project offers its support in completing this task.

The project, led by the French National Police, has the participation of CIVIPOL and the collaboration of the Spanish Scientific Police General Commissariat (CGPC).

The twinning project also seeks to enhance Algeria's willingness to develop external relations and comply with European and international standards.
