"The main objective of the Gulf of Guinea project is to support measures to improve maritime security, with special attention to piracy and armed robbery perpetrated against ships in selected countries in the Gulf of Guinea, with the support of experts from the Member States of the EU. In the long term, the project aims to contribute to the improvement of maritime governance.
The purpose of this task is to implement the necessary support measures for the respective governments to develop regional cooperation between the different Coast Guards and Maritime Control Forces, as well as the application of the law. The objective is to guarantee maritime security in the Gulf of Guinea (Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Togo, Benin, São Tomé and Príncipe, Côte d'Ivoire, Republic of the Congo)
The specific objective of this project is to provide technical elements and recommendations for effective and efficient support in the target countries. This will promote activities that will be carried out using EU cooperation instruments, through technical assistance and funding, promoting coordination among the parties involved in the Region, the IMO, other donors and other interested parties.”
