These activities, developed within the framework of the CT Public Spaces project, will serve to put into practice everything learned in previous training sessions with the Guardia Civil and specialists from the EU High Risk Security Network
Specialists from the Guardia Civil and the EU-HRSN prepare together with the Senegalese security forces for the Table Top exercise
The European project CT Public Spaces, led by the FIIAPP and the Guardia Civil, is starting a new series of activities with multidisciplinary teams from Senegal, experts in risk analysis, intervention or command and control. The aim is to put into practice the training received in Logroño and Dakar during previous exchanges on the protection of public spaces against terrorist attacks.
The first of these, Table Top, is a table-top simulation aimed primarily at those involved in command and control training. In other words, a simulation of a terrorist attack is carried out and senior commanders are given a practical exercise on how they should act in such an event. The specialists are thus confronted with a practical case that they must respond to from a command post specifically created for the event, coordinating the operational teams on the ground.
The second exercise, LIVEX, consists of a drill involving units from all the security forces involved in the immediate response to a terrorist attack.
The CT Public Spaces project has been working for more than two years with national authorities in Ghana, Kenya and Senegal to strengthen local capacities for the prevention and mitigation of terrorist attacks in public spaces in their territories. Therefore, these exercises are also planned to be conducted in Ghana and Kenya in the first half of 2023. Once these exercises are completed, the last phase of the project will involve operational support by project specialists for public space protection operations carried out by partner security forces.
