The European programme for social cohesion in Latin America presents a photograph exhibition with the aim of achieving a global image around the three fundamental axes on which it works
In June, the European Development Days took place in Brussels, an annual event organised by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for International Partnerships that brings together key actors in cooperation to share ideas and experiences in order to inspire new partnerships and innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges.
In this edition, the FIIAPP-led European Programme for Social Cohesion for Latin America EUROsociAL+ was selected by the organisation to present its “Miradas Cruzadas” exhibition. This exhibition, in which thirty photographs were displayed, was born of the competition promoted by the Programme with a massive call for entries in Latin America and Europe with the aim of achieving a global image around the three fundamental axes on which EUROsociAL+ works: social cohesion, peace and the process of just transition.
During these days, the participants were able to visit this cultural space that posed a direct questioning on the fundamental issue that was worked on through the image: the different ways of managing identical situations by different societies and in different parts of the planet.
In addition to the general public, the “Miradas Cruzadas” exhibition was visited by Jolita Butkeviciene, director of the European Commission’s Latin America and Caribbean areas; Felice Zaccheo, head of the European Commission’s Mexico, Central America, Caribbean and Regional Operations Unit; Pilar Cancela, Spanish Secretary of State for International Cooperation; Anna Terrón, Director of the FIIAPP, and a representation of the Practitioner’s Network with Antón Leis, Director of AECID and Jérémie Pellet, Executive Director of Expertise France, among other representatives of European cooperation agencies. In addition, a delegation of representatives from the Caribbean and Latin America of the Youth Sounding Board, an initiative of the European Commission to give space to the leaders of tomorrow, came to the exhibition to discover this initiative.
Subsequently, the exhibition was installed at the headquarters of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for International Partnerships, in the neighbourhood of the European institutions, coinciding with the EUROsociAL+ Final Meeting/EU-LAC High-Level Dialogue held in Brussels on 29 and 30 June.
