The activities involve 153 specialists, who train almost 3,000 teachers and university managers to improve education in Algeria
The European project Support to the Algerian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, led by the FIIAPP and developed by the Junta de Castilla y León, is carrying out the training program in the framework of its first component of the first of its three components: educational methodology. The aim of the project is to strengthen the pedagogical skills of teachers in research and the management capacities of the Algerian administration. The aim is to create a competitive economy in the country in which education in Algeria plays a key role.
This is why, for three years, the project has been working on further diversification of training offers, adaptation of teaching methods and improvement of the governance of higher education institutions. Ten missions of the first component were carried out during this period, three of them face-to-face and seven online, due to the health emergency situation during COVID-19. The activities have revolved around the three axes of the program: the development of active methodologies, the adaptation of didactic material and the creation of virtual learning environments.
A total of 37 experts took part in the activities, which trained almost a thousand participants (professors and managers from all Algerian universities). Among the topics covered in the training sessions were: the role of education in contemporary society, teacher training in new media, the technical possibilities of audiovisual and multimedia media in education, training in new participatory methods and techniques, internationalization processes, multicultural educational design, etc.
To bring the exchange of experiences to a close, during these two weeks the specialists have dealt with topics such as the didactic transformation of university classrooms or the lessons learned at the University and the challenges foreseen for the future. In addition to these trainings, 3 other sessions will address, among other topics, the training of teacher-researchers (component 2) and the governance of the university system (component 3).
