Joint training on maritime rescue for Mauritanian coastal surveillance personnel
23/03/2021
The project to Support Maritime Security in Mauritania, managed by FIIAPP, seeks to improve the management of security, particularly maritime security, in Mauritania. It is a project financed by the European Union trust fund, which aims to improve coordination and conflict prevention and reduce forced displacement and irregular migration.
Within the framework of this project, two Spanish specialists from the Spanish Civil Guard’s underwater activities service have delivered an activity on rescue and maritime rescue for personnel from the National Gendarmerie and the Mauritanian coastguard services.
With this activity, the FIIAPP has promoted the coordination and joint learning of the Mauritanian gendarmerie and the coast guard services, training a total of 25 people who will be able to pass on, over the following months, their teachings to other members of their institutions.
At the closing ceremony were figures from both institutions who expressed their satisfaction with the activity carried out and the importance of this first joint training between both institutions. Specifically, the coordination and joint work between the entities is one of the major objectives to be carried out and reinforced by the project. FIIAPP representatives in the project thanked them for their collaboration and enthusiasm in carrying out this activity.
