The ACT project for Lebanon Security cooperation organises a kick-off workshop for drafting the Lebanese counter-terrorism strategy.
Within the framework of the counter-terrorism (CT)project funded by the European Union (EU) ACT for Lebanon Security , led by FIIAPP, with support from the Ministries of the Interior and Justice, and in which CIVIPOL and Arma di Carabinieri are participants, a launch workshop was held to draft the Lebanese counter-terrorism strategy.
This workshop has provided a common work space for the Lebanese interdepartmental commission in charge of developing the strategy to combat terrorism in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, to move the country’s CT strategy forward. After reviewing the draft produced in 2019, the commission members focused on the proposed roadmap for the national debate on Lebanon’s final counter-terrorism strategy.
This workshop took place in the Grand Serail, the Prime Minister’s headquarters, with the support and follow-up of the Secretary General of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, and under the supervision of the National Coordinator of the project.
EU assistance, through this cooperation project, seeks to strengthen national capacities in Lebanon to react to threats from terrorism and organised crime.
