The Practitioners' Network has published a study on the relevance of mobilising public sector personnel through cooperation
The European Union is a unique international organisation in the world, which has been in a constant process of change and adaptation since its origin more than 70 years ago. This Sunday, 9 May, Europe Day, commemorates the ambitious European integration project and the values on which it is based. Among them, solidarity and commitment to cooperation. In line with this commitment, the European Practitioners’ Network has published the first phase of the study on mobilising public sector expertise for development in the European Union and the member states.
By mobilising public sector expertise (PSE), the European Union and its member states promote sustainable development policies through the exchange of knowledge among peers, together with international institutional associations such as FIIAPP.
PES is a fundamental element of cooperation that contributes to the promotion of the values that underpin the European project. In addition, it is one more tool in the European strategy based on so-called working better together. The mobilisation of PES promotes the inclusion of a joint European system of external action such as Team Europe and enables the reinforcement of dialogue on development-oriented policies with partner countries. Through PES, the EU and member states can build trust relationships and more effective win-win international alliances.
As part of Spanish and European Cooperation, the FIIAPP promotes the mobilisation of the PES of Spanish and European institutions through development cooperation projects with public institutions around the world. The Foundation promotes the exchange of knowledge and the creation of common spaces for dialogue to promote development-oriented public policies, within the framework of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals, for the benefit of people and the planet.
The cooperation programmes Bridging the Gap, EUROsociaAL+, EUROCLIMA + or EL PAcCTO are an example of the Foundation’s effort to promote cooperation and mobilisation of PES between the European Union and Latin America. In addition, in all of them, the FIIAPP works together with cooperation agencies from other countries of the European Union, strengthening relations, taking advantage of the diversity and opportunities offered by the EU and the benefits of working better together. Joint programming and implementation is at the heart of the European Union’s strategy for more coherent, coordinated and effective cooperation based on shared objectives.
