Digitising the justice system is strengthening judicial investigations and broadening accessibility, a task that has been supported by the ARAP Ghana project
The ARAP Ghana cooperation project is working in collaboration with the Ghanaian judicial system to strengthen digital tools in this African country and guarantee access to reliable and updated legal information through digitisation.
The ARAP project, which has been implemented by FIIAPP and financed by the European Union, has been strengthening online judicial information management systems. This system is a powerful instrument that promotes more responsible, transparent open government by providing reliable information for making judicial decisions.
Investing in and improving digital tools are among ARAP’s main goals in Ghana. The programme has added to technological skills and the process of digitising Ghanaian institutions, which has led to greater transparency and more efficient investigations.
During its last year of implementation, ARAP has focused on the creation, deployment and supply of equipment for the implementation of digital platforms for the benefit of the State Attorney General’s Office, the Police, the Judiciary, the Human Rights and Administrative Justice Commission and the Environmental Protection Agency, guaranteeing the continuity of institutional work in the fight against corruption and for accountability.
By harnessing technology to improve the administration of justice in the country, the ARAP program has been developing and implementing a Digital Law Library in Ghana, facilitating access to key legal knowledge for agents of the justice system, making justice accessible to all who need it. Electronic libraries offer a wide range of information resources crucial for investigations in judicial processes. Specifically, this electronic library contains international jurisprudence , legislation and regulations.
Facilitating access to legislation, judicial decisions, norms and regulations is crucial for effective access to justice, which results in better, swifter judicial decisions.
In addition to all this, digitisation has included software developments and the creation of online tools designed for Ghanaian institutions, which are already operating, facilitating the daily work of public administration personnel.
