Team Europe and Costa Rica celebrate the Second COVID19 Table

Team Europe has held the second meeting of the COVID19 Table in Costa Rica. The event marked a new milestone in the process of dialogue between the Costa Rican authorities and the actors of European cooperation in the country.  

Sponsored by the delegation of the European Union in San José and by MIDEPLAN, representatives of AECID, AFD, Expertise France, FIIAPP, GIZ, IILA , the French embassy and European regional programmes such as EL PAcCTO, EUROCLIMA +, SOCIEUX + and EUROsociAL+ came together at the telematic meeting. High-level representatives of the Foreign Ministry of Costa Rica, the Costa Rican Social Security Fund, the General Directorate of Civil Service, the National Institute of Women, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and the Ministry of Education also participated.  

The meeting served to share the progress of the technical dialogue process that is taking place between the different institutions of Government of Costa Rica and the actors of Team Europe to respond to the needs arising from COVID19. The planned assistance itinerary includes, for example, support in matters of gender equality, the improvement of public services in the country, as well as teaching and social security, support for precision agriculture, among others.  

With strengthened commitment, the participants confirmed their interest in continuing to advance in this COVID19 Tables dialogue process. Team Europe and Costa Rica agree that “soon the pandemic will not be the reason for our dialogue,” while recognising that the Table constitutes a useful instrument to strengthen alliances and cooperation.
