The Foundation implements a plan that allows for effective gender equality both internally and in all its programmes and projects
In gender terms, FIIAPP has strengths and weaknesses, but the Foundation’s management has shown a commitment to effective gender equality, highlighting the importance of adopting a gender mainstreaming dynamic both internally and in all its programmes and projects.
To this end, they have chosen a diverse and participatory methodology, setting up a working group, the gender group, as an active and reflective body. In the numerous training and monitoring sessions and thematic workshops, work has been performed to collect, categorise and analyse the information required to create an Equality Plan.
The creation of this Equality Plan was the objective of this group and, to begin the work, the 2019 International Women’s Day was used to hold a round table with Pilar Llop Cuenca, at the time a government delegate on gender violence, and with Karoline Fernández de la Hoz Zeitler, the director of the Spanish Observatory on Racism and Xenophobia. The FIIAPP gender group has collected, categorised and analysed the information necessary to diagnose the Foundation’s strengths and weaknesses, which have been reflected in the Diagnosis and in the Equality Plan presented to its staff at the end of 2020.
An Equality Committee has been established as a permanent body. This Committee is made up equally of management and staff and its main responsibility is to approve the Equality Plan and to monitor the commitments acquired therein.
It has been a long and intense process, which culminated in the signing of the 1st Equality Plan and the formalisation of a Protocol on Sexual Harassment at FIIAPP. The institution thus faces the great challenge of starting a new phase of work that incorporates the gender perspective and guarantees effective equality at the Foundation.
