SENSEC-EU creates an operational and training manual for police and customs officers at Senegalese border posts
The European Union, in collaboration with Senegalese specialists and regional and local administrative authorities, has developed an operational manual and a training manual for trainers to be used by staff at Senegalese border posts. This action is part of the internal security cooperation programme between Senegal and the European Union (SENSEC-EU).
The purpose of the operational manual is to serve as a reference document for Senegalese police and customs officers working at land borders. It contains guidelines to enable them to carry out their missions efficiently by providing them with standard operating procedures.
The manual provides educational techniques to better impart knowledge not only to prospective police and customs officers during initial training in their training schools, but also to newly appointed or already serving police and customs professionals. It will enable the Senegalese Police and Customs trainers to better train their staff members in all matters that fall within their areas of competence. The design of the manual allows for quick reference to ensure a balance between thorough, methodical control and smooth movement of people and goods.
Another recent activity carried out within the framework of the programme consisted of a workshop for the feasibility study on the establishment of a (CCPD). The CCPD is a cross-border cooperation tool that brings together all administrations responsible for security missions in partner states on a single platform to facilitate the exchange of information between countries.
These actions are part of the continuity of the European Union’s commitment to Senegal for cooperation and internal security and complement the set of activities carried out by SENSEC-EU to improve border security.
